                Ages 13-26 Upper SCAMP

Participants in this program typically have mild to moderate cognitive and physical impairments, mild autism and visual impairments.  SCAMP is generally not appropriate for individuals whose primary label is EI or individuals with severe autism in this age group.  All participants must be semi-independent and be able to function in 3-camper to 1-adult ratio and must not be a danger to themselves or anyone else.

Assistance will be given to changing, eating, and light toileting as necessary.  SCAMP does not provide “one-on-ones” however welcomes them from any outside agency or school district if an individual’s need is greater than what SCAMP provides.
Campers enjoy a variety of structured activities that focus on social skills improvement, language enrichment, and prevocational skills are focused on at SCAMP.  They also enjoy art and music therapy and physical education. Participants in this program will swim on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at Walnut Lake which is located behind West Hills Middle School in West Bloomfield.    Special activities are brought to SCAMP such as moonwalks and sports mobiles by Oakland County Parks and Recreation.
