                SCAMP Teen Volunteer Program

The Bloomfield Hills Recreation-Community Services Division offers a
Teen Volunteer program.  Students may volunteer to work at SCAMP as a part of this program to gain valuable work experience
while enriching their community by utilizing their free time to do volunteer work.

Eligibility: Students must be a minimum of 14 years of age to volunteer.  Boys and girls 9th grade and older in the fall (middle school students will be placed in summer programs after interested high school students are placed).  Students must be able to provide a safe environment for campers, work independently, follow multi-step directions and act responsibly incase of an emergency.
Sessions:To maintain the highest degree of programming for campers, volunteers must agree to work one of two full sessions.  Volunteers may extend their days of volunteer service or may choose to work both sessions, however they may not work a partial session.  (For example – working only Mondays and Wednesdays in one session is not allowed.)

                Session 1:
Mandatory volunteer orientation on Friday, June 24, 9:00 am

                Hours: 9am to 2 pm
Mutual Responsibility Policy:  Upon agreeing to volunteer at SCAMP, SCAMP agrees to provide on the job training and support as needed to be a successful volunteer at SCAMP.  The volunteer understands that they are responsible for getting all community service forms to their teacher/supervisor to be signed at the end of their volunteer experience.  SCAMP reserves the right not to sign any volunteer forms to verify hours after one calendar year of service.

                Volunteer Areas:
Children Ages 3 through 6       Children Ages 7 through 12    Teens Ages 13-16 if appropriate

Placements:  Most volunteers will be placed with the younger children.  The Supervisor Kate Westman is in charge of placing the volunteers and coordinating this.  Once your application has been received, the Coordinator (Chandra Madafferi) will review them to make sure they meet the general requirements then Katie will contact your child for confirmation.  Volunteers are placed after all prestudent teachers, college interns and employees have been placed are put in areas that are best for our campers and program.  We try to accommodate all qualifying volunteers, however, just because you apply does not mean that we can guarantee you or your child a placement. Volunteers will be notified the first week of June if not before if they have been selected and their placement.
