A Special Camp for Summer Fun

2010 General Information

Dates: Monday, June 28 - First day for campers             
            Monday, July 5 - Closed for summer break

           
Thursday, July 29 - Last day for campers


Hours:  9am to 2pm

Cost:   $975 (includes a $25 non-refundable registration fee) for all general participants - $1275 for all wheelchair bound campers (this amount reflects a portion of the cost of the additional staffing requirements)

Financial Assistance: SCAMP works with outside agencies to help subsidize or pay for camp.   If you child is a MORC, CLS, Easter Seals or any other state agency consumer, you can ask your child’s caseworker to put SCAMP in their budget.  SCAMP will bill the agency $950 for the tuition unless the entire amount is approved ahead of time.

Parents of children who are 17 years or younger, whose families make less than $40,000 per year or can demonstrate financial need in writing (loss of job, more than one child with a disability ect.) are invited to attend a financial aid meeting that we will have in the spring.  Information will be posted when it is available.

Populations Served: Ages 3-8 All disabilities including ADHD, at-risk, EI and speech and language delay

Ages 9-26 individuals with physical impairments, mild to moderate cognitive impairments, mild to moderate autism, physical impairments* See the program page for detailed information on our special self-contained classrooms and other registration requirements.Other Information:  Participants must be able to function in a 3 camper to 1 adult ratio. SCAMP does not provide “one-on-ones” however welcomes them from any outside source.*  

Participants must not be a danger to themselves or anyone else as defined in the Bloomfield Hills Uniform Code of Conduct.  This includes biting, hitting, or other dangerous behavior that could result in an injury. *If a parent or case worker would like to enroll a child who has behavioral concerns or is in a center based program during the school year and requires a one-on-one Para to participate at SCAMP, we can post for this position to accommodate your child.  However, the parent or other outside agency such as MORC is responsible for the extra staffing expense.  Any such accommodation request must be made prior to May 15, 2010 in order to secure a qualified staff member.  A child’s paraprofessional from their home school district is welcome to attend camp with the child at the home districts expense or a child’s personal Respite care worker is welcome with Coordinator approval. All 2009 participants will receive a mailing notifying them of when the 2010 registration and enrollment forms are available online. In order to save money, enrollment packets will not be mailed out however can be picked up in the Bloomfield Recreation Office after April 1, 2010.Coordinator: Chandra Madafferi
