Teen Volunteer Program
The Bloomfield Hills Recreation-Community Service Division offers a teen volunteer program that meets the needs of most community service requirements. Students may volunteer to work at SCAMP as part of the program to gain valuable work experience while enriching their community by utilizing their free time to do volunteer work.
Eligibility: Students must be a minimum of 14 years of age to volunteer. Boys and girls 9th grade and older in the fall (middle school students will be placed in summer programs after interested high school students are placed). Students must be able to provide a safe environment for campers, work independently, follow multi-step directions and act responsibly incase of an emergency.
Hours: 9am to 2 pm
Mutual Responsibility Policy: Upon agreeing to volunteer at SCAMP, SCAMP agrees to provide on the job training and support as needed to be a successful volunteer at SCAMP. The volunteer understands that they are responsible for getting all community service forms to their teacher/supervisor to be signed at the end of their volunteer experience. SCAMP reserves the right not to sign any volunteer forms to verify hours after one calendar year of service.
Placements: Once your application has been received, the Assistant Coordinator, Jessi Haines, will review them to make sure they meet the general requirements, then you will be emailed confirming placement. Volunteers are placed based on the greatest area of need. While we try to accommodate requests for age groups we can not guarantee it. We try to accommodate all qualifying volunteers, however, just because you apply does not mean that we can guarantee you or your child a placement. Volunteers will be notified the first week of June if not before if they have been selected and their placement.
